Woodstock Film FestivalFilmmakers, industry mavens, film critics and local film buffs gathered last evening at the historic Backstage Productions Arts and Entertainment Complex in Kingston, NY for the awards ceremonies of the 10th edition of the Woodstock Film Festival. The film event closes today, celebrating 10 years of exceptional independent film, panels, concerts, events and parties, with the best of the best in the indie film world.

Emceed by actor/director Giancarlo Esposito, the WFF Awards ceremony guests, presenters and award recipients included Richard Linklater, Ethan Hawke, Ted Hope, Jonathan Demme, John Sloss, Geoff Gilmore, Jonathan Gray, Nancy Abraham, Peter Saraf, Ira Sachs, Barbara Kopple. Among other lumuniaries attending the 2009 festival included Uma Thurman, Woody Harrelson, Ben Foster, Vera Farmiga, John Ventimiglia, Kevin Corrigan, and Brian Geraghty.

Mira Sorvino and Barry Pepper lead DANDELION's big win at VISIONFEST 09's Awards Ceremony; Paul Osborne crowned with Domani Vision Film Society 'Filmmaker of the Year' Award for his OFFICIAL REJECTION

Adam Mason's BLOOD RIVER landed wins for Andrew Howard's performance and Stuart Brereton's cinematography - two of the film festival's "special awards."

Directing honors bestowed upon Jef Taylor for the short, COVERAGE; SANDHOGS came out of the ground to win for Outstanding Achievement in Documentary Filmmaking; Nyle Cavazos Garcia's screenplay, TAG, winner of the Feature Screenwriting Competition

Coming to a climax after a week full of screening premieres, information sessions, special events and networking parties, the 2009 SILVERDOCS Documentary Film Festival, co-presented by the American Film Institute and The Discovery Channel, announces its award winners on Sunday, spreading the wealth amongst a diverse group of documentary titles. This year, the Festival screened over 120 films representing 58 countries and included more than 1000 filmmaker and media professional attendees at the concurrent International Documentary Conference, with its particular emphasis on youth, education and next generation media artists. Winning filmmakers received over $70,000 in combined cash and in-kind prizes.

"Los que se Quedan", wins the First Prize of the Jury for Original Full-length Film

• The First Prize of the Jury for Best Original Documentary Short Film has been awarded to the film La Chirola, the Cuban-Bolivian co-production by Diego Antonio Mondaca.

En Enero, Quizás by Diogo Costa Amarante has received the First Prize of the Jury in the Full-length Film category of the National Competition, in which the film Anas: an Indian Film by Enric Miró was also awarded, along with the short films Triste Borracha, by Chema Rodríguez and Hombres de Sal, by Manuel Jiménez Núñez.

Fixer: the taking of Ajmal Naqshbandi by Ian Olds has won the First Prize in the Reporting Category; Second Prize has been given to Chema Rodríguez, who took away two awards, with Coyote.
