Biblical Armageddon is the theme of the first new feature in nine years from the directing team that calls itself the Hughes Brothers. Once again we are thrown into a post apocalyptic nightmare much like we recently witnessed in “The Road” or even “Mad Max”. This time, however, the object that fuels our odyssey is the last remaining King James Version of the Holy Bible.

Director Miguel Arteta is known for making dark comedies. His Sundance breakthrough was the excellent “Chuck & Buck” and he followed that with the solid “The Good Girl” which starred Jennifer Aniston. His latest romp is a coming of age comedy with inventive twists that make it both funny and engaging.

Director Guy Ritchie is known for making films about causally violent thugs with humor, style and panache.  His latest effort is a highly stylized reinterpretation of Arthur Conan Doyle’s Victorian masterpiece.  The Holmes of this action, adventure-illusionist construction is played impeccably by the great Robert Downey Jr. as a master of the martial arts.

Director/ writer Jason Reitman’s third feature solidifies his reputation as one of the best young directors working in Hollywood today.

Director/ writer James (“King of the World”) Cameron’s long simmering (15 years!)  work is rich, compelling, immersive and replete with astounding visuals.  It is a one-of-a-kind entertainment experience that should be seen at least once and in the 3-D venue in your town with the largest screen and the best sound system.
