Written by: FFT Webmaster | August 26th, 2011

The newest film festivals on the New York film calendar begins next week with a potpourri program of challenging and fascinating indie and international pics. The New York Hell’s Kitchen Film Festival (NYHKFF) will host over 140 features and shorts during its 10 day event which begins on September 1 at the Producers’ Club in midtown Manhattan. Opening the festivities is the New York premiere of Jay Duplass’ documentary debut KEVIN, to be followed by a musical performance by the film’s subject Kevin Gant and a Q&A with Duplass and Gant moderated by IFC.com On-air Host Matt Singer.  The Festival Centerpiece Film is Josh Hyde’s Peruvian drama POSTALES, which drew praise at the Edinburgh and Shanghai International Film Festivals. Among the Festival highlights will be a special 10th Anniversary Retrospective Gala of Larry Clark’s rarely screened film KEN PARK, with the famed director and actress Tiffany Lamos in attendance for the screening on September 2. Closing the festival is the World Premiere of director Craig Viveiros’ film LOST IN ITALY, starring Glen Murphy (DOCTOR WHO) and Ray Winstone (THE DEPARTED). In addition to numerous premieres, NYHKFF is presenting a number of exciting industry panels as well as some innovative social networking parties on Manhattan’s way west side.
