The Boss Will Keynote SXSW

Written by: FFT Webmaster | December 12th, 2011

Legendary musician Bruce Springsteen will be the keynote speaker at next year’s South by Southwest Music and Media Conference and Festival. The event, which takes place in Austin, Texas in mid-March 2012, has become one of the largest cross-platform events of its kind, bringing together filmmakers, digital entrepreneurs, service vendors, musicians and talent agents in an intoxicating mix of music and movies. This is the first time that Springsteen has attended the event, and the topic of his address has not yet been revealed. The musician has been active in providing songs and soundtracks for various films in the past two decades, winning an Oscar for Best Song for Streets of Philadelphia, in the opening credits of Jonathan Demme’s pioneering film PHILADELPHIA, which also won Oscar honors for its lead Tom Hanks in 1994. Springsteen songs have also been featured on the musical soundtracks of such recent films as THE WRESTLER, BETWEEN HEAVEN AND HELL, A HOME AT THE END OF THE WORLD and, inevitably, JERSEY GIRL, among others. It is pretty certain that the Austin Convention Center will be a frenzy of paparazzi flashbulbs and fan adulation when The Boss comes to town on March 15. For more information, visit: www.sxsw.com
