The Weinstein Company To Remake Drug Film

Written by: FFT Webmaster | March 14th, 2012

The Weinstein Company’s Radius-TWC has acquired U.S. distribution rights to an English-language remake of PUSHER, the edgy 1996 debut of Danish director Nicolas Winding Refn, who scored an international hit this past year with DRIVE. Directed by Luis Prieto, written by Matthew Read and created with Refn’s explicit blessing, the PUSHER remake stars Richard Coyle, Agyness Deyn, Bronson Webb, Mem Ferda and Zlatko Buric. Refn is serving as the executive producer of the film. The original PUSHER series (there were three films in all) were international sensations in the late 1990s and early 2000’s, establishing the career of one of Hollywood’s hottest new properties. DRIVE superstar lead Ryan Gosling is set to collaborate with director Refn on at least two more projects in the next few years.
