Cannes Producers On The Move

Written by: FFT Webmaster | May 21st, 2012

As part of its on-going tradition of the past 13 years, the European Film Promotion (EFP), a pan-European agency that represents European film promotion agencies, has selected 25 emerging young European producers for the Producers on the Move networking initiative, which is being held in Cannes this week. For the first time, this year’s line-up includes a producer from Georgia, the newest member of EFP. All the assembled producers, who have already produced films in their native lands and are now actively seeking co-production partners for upcoming projects, will participate in a series of networking and press activities in Cannes.

Some of this year’s Producers on the Move have films screening in various sections at Cannes. Dutch producer Trent of NFI Productions has his co-production of VILLEGAS in the Special Screenings section, while Romanian producer Monica Lazurean-Gorgan has a project with the Cinéfondation initiative, Cannes’ platform for the promotion of innovative productions. Since its launch 13 years ago, Producers on the Move has brought 243 producers together over four days during Cannes and aims to lay the foundation for future collaborations at round table meetings and co-production lunches. The initiative is financially backed by the European Union’s MEDIA Programme and the EFP member organizations, with support also being provided by co-production fund Eurimages.
