New Hope For San Francisco

After losing two superb executives to illness in the past year, the San Francisco Film Society, which sponsors the San Francisco International Film Festival each April and training and screening events throughout the year, has announced that prolific indie producer Ted Hope has been hired as the Society’s Executive Director. Hope succeeds Bingham Ray, who served as the Society’s executive director for only ten weeks before his untimely death in January during the Sundance Film Festival. Ray, a true indie pioneer, in turn succeeded Graham Leggat, who served in the post from October 2005 to June 2011 before his death from cancer in August 2011. Hope is a well-liked and well-respected film executive who has worked on nearly 70 films, including the works of such esteemed filmmakers as Todd Solondz, Greg Mottola, Alan Michel Gondry, Hal Hartley, Nicole Holofcener and Ang Lee. Effective September 1, the veteran film producer will leave his home base of New York City, where he produced independent films through his companies Good Machine, This is That and Double Hope Films. A new chapter is about to begin for Hope and the Film Society…….good luck to all.
