Adieu To Graham Leggat

Word came last week that Graham Leggat, the 51 year old former executive director of the San Francisco Film Society, died in his San Francisco home after an 18-month battle with cancer. Leggat, who had been at the SFFS for the past seven years following a stellar career at various New York film institutions such as the Film Society of Lincoln Center, the Museum of Modern Art and the American Museum of the Moving Image, was Film Festival Today’s Person Of The Week in early July, when he announced his resignation from his post. Aside from his professional accomplishments in San Francisco, which includes an expansion of the San Francisco International Film Festival and the founding of a permanent cinematheque for year-round programming, Graham will be remembered as a passionate lover of film with a flair for organization and inspiration. Donations in his name are being made to the San Francisco Film Society: www.sffs.org. Rest in peace, old friend…..
