Film Movement (www.filmmovement.com), the North American film distribution company, has acquired the Colombian film LA SIRGA by director William Vega. The film premiered last month in the 2012 Cannes Film Festival’s Director’s Fortnight. The Spanish-language film tells the poignant story of Alice, a war-ravaged woman who tries to reshape her life in La Sirga, a decadent hostel on the shores of a great lake in the highlands of the Andes. There, on a swampy and murky beach, she will try to settle down until her fears and the threat of war resurface again. The film will receive a New York theatrical opening in late 2012, followed by a limited national roll-out, as well as a day-and-date VOD premiere on various cable and satellite platforms.
