George Clooney To Direct Cuban Drama

George Clooney is poised to take on Castro and the Cuban Revolution in a new drama for Focus Features. The Oscar-winning actor/director/producer has been signed to direct THE YANKEE COMANDANTE, the story of an American who helped Castro at a critical stage of the 1959 revolution. He was one of only two foreigners to rise to the rank of comandante, only to break with Castro over his socialist beliefs. The film is based on a New Yorker article by David Grann. Clooney will produce along with his partner Grant Heslov.
