New Distributor Makes First High Profile Acquisition

LD Distribution, the newly formed distribution arm of Mickey Liddell’s LD Entertainment headed by David Dinerstein, has made its first high profile acquisition at Sundance. The company has bought North American theatrical rights to Sundance Midnight Section entry BLACK ROCK. The film, about a group of girls on a reunion trip to a remote island in Maine that goes horribly wrong, stars Kate Bosworth, Lake Bell and Katie Aselton, who is also the director. The film premiered in the Midnight section Saturday night. A number of companies were interested but the film’s sales agent Josh Braun of Submarine chose LD because it was offering VOD day-and-date theatrical and even would run the film for several weeks via VOD platforms prior to the theatrical run.
