The New York film community has suffered a tremendous loss with the announcement of the death of Donald Krim, the longtime president of Kino International president and co-president with Richard Lorber of the relatively recent distribution shingle Kino Lorber. Krim died in his New York home after a year-long battle with cancer. He was 65. Among the directors Krim brought to American audiences were Wong Kar-Wai (HAPPY TOGETHER), Michael Haneke (THE PIANO TEACHER), Andre Techine (SCENE OF THE CRIME), Volker Schlondorff (THE LEGEND OF RITA), Kelly Reichardt (OLD JOY), Amos Gitai (KADOSH) , Aki Kaurismäki (THE MATCH FACTORY GIRL), and Julie Dash (DAUGHTERS OF THE DUST). A public service is being held today at Riverside Memorial Chapel in Manhattan.
