Ricky Gervais Is Back To Host Golden Globes

In spite of criticism in some corners for his irreverent hosting of last year’s Golden Globes (where he took merciless aim on the Hollywood industry and its biggest stars), actor/comedian Ricky Gervais has been asked to host the Golden Globes yet again…..that makes three times for the UK creator of THE OFFICE. His ribald comments of last year including the awards’ sponsor The Hollywood Foreign Press Association, a less-than-100 person group with more clout than it deserves in the eyes of many. Speculation is rampant over whether the Association will try and “adjust” Gervais’ behavior (why hire him if you don’t expect outrageous?). To his credit, Gervais’ appearance on the television broadcast has significantly boosted ratings so broadcaster NBC is happy that Gervais is back in the saddle. The Golden Globes, known as “Hollywood’s biggest party” will take place on January 15 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.
