Rob Lowe: Up Close and Personal

On Wednesday, May 4, the Jacob Burns Film Center in Westchester Country north of New York City welcomes actor Rob Lowe, who is currently on a book tour promoting his autobiography Stories I Only Tell My Friends. The book has been hailed as a frank, bold, and often humorous examination of a life led in the public eye. Lowe will be interviewed by New York Times critic Janet Maslin following the screening of the director’s cut of THE OUTSIDERS, one of the actor’s first significant films. In his book, Lowe writes extensively about the film, discussing the competition among his fellow future stars (including Tom Cruise, Matt Dillon, Patrick Swayze and Emilio Estevez), their obsessive love for co-star Diane Lane, and the unique direction of Francis Ford Coppola.
