Sony Pictures To Produce Steve Jobs Biopic

Sony Pictures Entertainment has concluded a deal to buy film rights to the authorized biography of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, who passed away last week from pancreatic cancer. The biography by Walter Isaacson has been rushed to press by publisher Simon & Schuster for a late October release, due to intense international interest in its subject. Having agreed to pay a reported $1 million advance against a total of $3 million for the book rights, Sony is partnering with producer Mark Gordon and production company Management 360 to get the film on screens in a few months time, while the memory of Mr. Jobs and his achievements are still fresh. Sony is the studio which last year produced THE SOCIAL NETWORK, a film about another media superstar, Mark Zuckerberg. Hollywood is already speculating whether a name actor or an unknown will be cast in the lead role.
