Vicente Aranda To Head Montreal FF Jury

Noted Spanish director Vicente Aranda will preside over the international jury of the 35th Montreal World Film Festival, which runs from August 18 to 28. Noted for his refined and personal style, Aranda was a founding member of Barcelona School of Film, an avant garde movement which sought the creative renovation of Spanish cinema, and he quickly became known for his adaptations of contemporary Spanish novels, especially those of Juan Marse. Among his best known films are FATA MORGANA (1966), IF THEY TELL YOU I’VE FALLEN (1989) and the international commercial hit LOVERS (1990), for which its star Victoria Abril won the Best Actress Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival.
