Zurich Film Festival To Honor Paul Haggis

The Zurich Film Festival, which will run in the Swiss city from September 22 to October 2, has announced that that Oscar-winning screenwriter and filmmaker Paul Haggis will be awarded the Festival’s Golden Eye Award. In addition, the Festival will screen a retrospective of his work, which includes such contemporary classics as CRASH, MILLION DOLLAR BABY and IN THE VALLEY OF ELAH. While in Zurich, Haggis will lead a Master Class where he will discuss how he has approached developing screenplays and bringing them to the big screen. The Festival gained notoriety last year when it similarly honored director Roman Polanski, which led to his house arrest under threat of extradition to the United States for a rape charge going back almost 40 years.
