Since 1993, Gen Arts showcased emerging filmmakers, fashion designers, musicians and visual artists. But, this recessionary economy of the past 18 months has taken its toll and the company has decided to call it quits.
With offices in New York, San Francisco, Miami and Chicago the company had produced hundreds of notable events including their annual New York Film Festival and, more recently, The Chicago Gen Art Film Festival. We, at Film Festival Today, find it disheartening and painful to see its reign end. We would be remiss if we did not acknowledge the fine work of Aaron Levine and Jeff Abramson in Gen Art’s film division. They put their heart and soul into championing independent film and for this we are grateful. Here at FFT we hope to keep a tiny bit of that energy burning as we support emerging filmmakers.
