CARRIE Remake In The Works

Few films had the visceral thrill of CARRIE, the 1978 Brian De Palma horror shocker that starred Sissy Spacek as a beleaguered teenager with telekinetic powers. The Stephen King novel is among his most popular, so a modern-day version of the tale is bound to bankable. News has emerged that MGM and Screen Gems are getting behind the remake, having recently hired playwright Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa to bring a modern twist to the high school horror play. King, who must offer his blessing for any new adaptation of his original work, is reportedly on the fence and is waiting to see the results of the final screenplay. If he approves, then the new version of CARRIE, as yet uncast and without a director attached, could be a go in the coming months.
