Diversity is The Theme of Sundance 2016!
From the opening day press conference which welcomed journalists from all over the world, Sundance 2016 was all about color and inclusive film-making. Nate Parker, director and screenwriter, re-purposed the title of Griffith’s racist masterpiece with a new “THE BIRTH OF A NATION” from the perspective of African-Americans and won both Audience Award and Grand Jury Prize in dramatic competition. It was perfect timing as a counter-punch to #OscarsSoWhite and sold for a new Sundance record of 17.5 million to Fox Searchlight.
