Written by: FFT Webmaster | September 21st, 2011

THE LADY, a biopic of Burmese activist Aung San Suu Kyi, which had its world premiere last week at the Toronto International Film Festival, will make its European premiere at the sixth edition of the Rome Film Festival, which runs from October 27 to November 4 in the Eternal City. The film is directed by veteran French helmer Luc Besson and stars Chinese actress Michelle Yeoh. The film recounts the political and personal odyssey of the Burmese pacifist and human rights activist who has been a voice of hope against the dictatorship in her country for decades and whose efforts won her the Nobel Peace Prize. The film, which co-stars British thespian David Thewlis, has just been picked up for U.S. distribution by Cohen Media Group, which will release the film later this year during awards season.
