CBS Films Taps Shooman

Written by: FFT Webmaster | August 4th, 2011

CBS Films has named Scott Shooman as its new Executive Vice President of Acquisitions. He will be responsible for the studio’s acquisitions operations.

Shooman joins CBS Films following a decade at Sony Pictures where he rose to Vice President of Acquisitions and Productions. He was directly responsible for the studio’s horror hit INSIDIOUS, as well as a number of key acquisitions including HANNA, MACHETE and THE IMAGINARIUM OF DOCTOR PARNASSUS.

CBS Films is a division of the CBS Corporation and plans to release four to six movies a year, spanning all genres.  The company has upped its acquisitions strategy of late, having scored earlier this year with the hit action film THE MECHANIC starring Jason Statham and Ben Foster. Acquisitions slated for release in 2012 include THE WOMAN IN BLACK starring Daniel Radcliffe and          GAMBIT, from a screenplay by Joel and Ethan Coen, and starring Colin Firth, Cameron Diaz and Alan Rickman.
