Jodie Foster and John C. Reilly Walk Red Carpet At NYFF Opening

Written by: FFT Webmaster | October 3rd, 2011

The skies opened up to some punishing rains but that did not dampen the spirits of attendees to the screening of CARNAGE, the newest film from director Roman Polanski, that opened the 49th edition of the New York Film Festival on Friday evening. While Polanski was not on hand to celebrate the film’s North American debut (due to his on-going legal battles stemming from a 1977 statutory rape charge), two of the film’s stars, Jodie Foster and John C. Reilly were in attendance, both on the red carpet and on stage at Alice Tully Hall. They were joined by the film’s producer Saïd Ben Saïd and writer Yasmina Reza, who adapted her own play for the big screen. “I’m very proud to be here,” Reza said, speaking for the group. “We are very honored, on behalf of Roman Polanski, that CARNAGE is the opening night presentation of the New York Film Festival.”  The film opens theatrically at year’s end via Sony Pictures Classics and looks to be a major player in the awards season.
