Latest Film From Steven Soderbergh

Oscar nominated director Steven Soderbergh is well known for his modernist take on genre films. However, he has never made a full-out action film, but that is being corrected with HAYWIRE, which is expected to be unveiled at film festivals this Fall and open in January 2012. The cast of the actioner includes such high profile names as Ewan McGregor, Channing Tatum and Michael Fassbender. However, for his lead, Soderbergh has hired a new face…..Gina Carano, an award-winning martial artiste who plays a trained operative for a security firm who discovers that her higher ups are secretly betraying the company for obscene profits. Soderbergh, who also wrote the original script, got the idea for the film after watching Carano fight on television and decided to build a movie around her. “She can really kick ass”, the director stated in a published interview.
