Quentin Tarantino Turns To The Old West

Written by: FFT Webmaster | May 3rd, 2011

Quentin Tarantino has completed the script for his long-awaited spaghetti western and is preparing to shoot it with Christoph Walz in a lead role. Walz, who won an Oscar for playing Nazi Hans Landa in Tarantino’s INGLORIOUS BASTERDS will play the lead in DJANGO UNCHAINED (the current, not completely confirmed working title). The film’s title is a nod to Italian director Sergio Corbucci’s 1966 DJANGO about a gunslinger who rescues a woman from bandits — and who drags a coffin with him. In true Tarantino style, the film promises to be both a homage and a send up of the spaghetti western genre of the 1960s and 1970s, exemplified by the films of Sergio Leone and starring a then untried Clint Eastwood.
