Al Pacino Returning To Life Of Crime

Written by: FFT Webmaster | May 13th, 2011

The iconic actor Al Pacino, who was twice nominated for the Academy Award for playing mobster Michael Corleone in THE GODFATHER films, is returning to a life of crime, on the big screen at least. He has joined the cast of GOTTI: THREE GENERATIONS, the new crime epic about John Gotti (the “dapper don”) and his brood. The film will be directed by Oscar winner Barry Levinson (RAIN MAN), with James Toback reworking the original script.

Pacino will play Gambino crime family underboss Neil Dellacroce, starring opposite John Travolta, who will play the titular John Gotti. Other cast members include Kelly Preston (the real Mrs. John Travolta) playing the mobster’s wife and Joe Pesci, playing a Gotti lieutenant. Lindsay Lohan has also been cast as Gotti’s daughter. Fiore Films acquired rights to the story from John Gotti Jr., the “Dapper Don’s” son — who spent time in prison and was a “made man” before he decided to leave the family business. Marc Fiore is producing, with the shoot set to begin later this Fall in New York. A theatrical release in late 2012 is predicted with the producers now shopping the project at the Cannes Film Festival for distribution and financing partners.
