Jolie’s Bosnian Film Will Be A Language Mix

Written by: FFT Webmaster | November 7th, 2011

IN THE LAND OF MILK AND HONEY, actress Angelina Jolie’s directorial debut, is set in the former Yugoslavia and depicts the story of two lovers who are torn apart by the 1990s war in Bosnia-Herzegovina. In order to make the film as realistic as possible, Jolie has cast local actors Goran Kostic and Zana Marjanovic as her leads and has shot separate takes of many dialogue scenes in Serbo-Croatian, which will be intermixed with the film’s English sequences. Jolie, who is currently putting the finishing touches on the film which will be released in North America on December 23, has stated that she will use whichever take is most effective, moving effortlessly from English to Serbo-Croatian within the same scene. The film is being poised for awards season gold although it has been markedly not represented in this season’s high profile film festivals.
