Netflix’s U.K. and Ireland offerings expanded further as the online video streaming giant sealed a deal with Miramax to bring titles such as PULP FICTION, CHICAGO, THE ENGLISH PATIENT and other Oscar winners to the two countries. There is still no hard launch date for the Netflix service to be offered in those countries, but indications are that there will be an inaugural package of titles made available to potential consumers by mid 2012, which will prominently feature the Miramax titles. Netflix already offers the Miramax film library to its customer base in the U.S. and Latin America. The films will be available for Internet-connected TVs, tablets, game consoles, computers and mobile phones. Other titles in the deal include THE AVIATOR, BAD SANTA, THE BOY IN THE STRIPED PAJAMAS, CHOCOLAT, FINDING NEVERLAND, GANGS OF NEW YORK, THE HOURS, KATE AND LEOPOLD, ROUNDERS, SLING BLADE and THE TALENTED MR. RIPLEY. The deal with Miramax comes on the heels of a major agreement with Lionsgate for the UK and Ireland that includes such films as DIRTY DANCING and THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT.
