Seth Rogen To Host Film Independent Spirit Awards

Written by: FFT Webmaster | January 4th, 2012

Comic actor Seth Rogen has been named host of the 2012 Film Independent Spirit Awards, the ”indie Oscars” that will be given out at its traditional beach tent location in Santa Monica on February 25, one day before the Oscars ceremony in Los Angeles. Rogen, who is mainly known for his crowd pleasing comedies including KNOCKED UP, THE 40 YEAR OLD VIRGIN, FUNNY PEOPLE and PINEAPPLE EXPRESS, was represented on screen this year with the “cancer comedy” 50/50, which received three Independent Spirit Award nominations, including Best Film and Best Screenplay, and is also a strong presence at the Golden Globe Awards, where it was nominated for Best Comedy Film, Best Actor (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and Best Screenplay. Rogen also produced the film, which is based on his real life relationship with a best buddy who develops cancer. Rogen follows in the steps of such former Awards hosts as John Waters, Joel McHale and Eddie Izzard. The Film Independent Spirit Awards will be carried live on the IFC cable network.
