“Midnight Peepshow” Fails to Satisfy

Written by: Patrick Howard | February 22nd, 2024

Midnight Peepshow (Andy Edwards/Airell Anthony Hayles/Ludovica Musumeci/Jake West, 2022) 2 out of 5 stars

Midnight Peepshow wants to be the piece of art that pushes boundaries of sexual fantasies, as depicted in the film, but these fantasies are comprised of nothing more than just the basic violence seen in gruesome slashers of yesteryear. In the film, an unnamed woman owns and operates a peepshow offering paying onlookers a tailor-made experience wrapped around their deepest desires. At the beginning, a businessman who has a unique connection to an extreme fantasy website on the dark web and becomes a witness to three stories of victims who found the same website. It will only be a matter of time before he is made to pay the ultimate price for dabbling in his own desire.

Midnight Peepshow is structured as an anthology film, using this lone businessman as its link from story to story. Each narrative offers a promising premise that will delve deeper into the concept of sexual desires and kinks. However, the bloodshed quickly takes over and the sexual intrigue is pushed to the wayside. The collection Midnight Peepshow’s filmmakers promise an experience that will titillate the viewer and challenge their understanding of sex, but these tales never reach a satisfying end.
