Cannes Film Festival Competition Jury Confirmed

With Robert De Niro already previously announced as the President of the Competition Jury for next month’s Cannes Film Festival, the rest of the Jury at the world’s most prestigious film festival is now confirmed:

• Martina Gusman of Argentina, an actress and producer whose films include Lion’s Den (2008), which premiered at Cannes, and Carancho (2010).
  
• Nansun Shi of China, a Hong Kong action film producer, with credits such as Seven Swords (2005) and the Jean Claude Van Damme/Dennis Rodman pairing Double Team (1997), both of which were directed by her husband Hark Tsui.
  
• Uma Thurman, the American actress, of course, who has a long history of films at the festival, including 1994′s Pulp Fiction, which won the Palme d’Or.
  
• Linn Ullman, a film critic and journalist from Norway.
  
• Olivier Assayas, the French filmmaker who last year brough the five-and-a-half hour terrorist bio-pic Carlos to the festival.
  
• Jude Law, the British actor, co-star of Sherlock Holmes and The Talented Mr. Ripley. He has also acted alongside Thurman, making the jury a mini-Gattaca reunion.
  
• Mahamat Saleh Haroun, a filmmaker from Chad who has lived in France for nearly 30 years, who won the Cannes jury prize last year for A Screaming Man, about a father and son torn apart by his homeland’s civil war.
  
• Johnnie To, the director/producer of many Hong Kong action films, including Vengeance, which played in competition at the festival two years ago.
