Film Review: Death at a Funeral

Director Neil Labute is known for his misanthropy and cynicism and he remakes the British infused Frank Oz film of the same title with an all-star Black cast and trumps him!
As in the original, the setting is a deceased family’s home, where the eldest son (played with panache by Chris Rock) and his wacky, author younger brother (a funny Martin Lawrence) run into all sort of wacky shenanigans as they try to lay to rest their deceased father. Nudity, psychotropic drugs, revelations about the deceased’s sexual proclivities and, of course, a death at a funeral all enter and exit at a pace that will entertain and keep you laughing.
