Tribeca Film has announced that it has acquired North American rights to SIDE BY SIDE, a provocative documentary journey through the technical and aesthetic implications of the transition from traditional film to digital technology. The film is produced and presented by actor Keanu Reeves and was directed by Chris Kenneally. The actor serves an illuminating host in charting the rapid transition of film from a celluloid to a digital art form. The film explores the impact of digital filmmaking with in-depth interviews with such master storytellers as Danny Boyle, James Cameron, David Fincher, George Lucas, David Lynch, Christopher Nolan, Martin Scorsese, Steven Soderbergh, Lars Von Trier, The Wachowskis, and many more. Following the film’s world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival earlier this month, Tribeca Film is planning a summer release on a multi-platform basis that includes theaters, VOD and special college campus/film school presentations. Likelihood is also great the film will have a pride of place screening at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York in late April.
