Scary Movies At Lincoln Center

If it’s Halloween, it must be time for Scary Movies, a series of fright films that will screen at the Film Society of Lincoln Center from October 27 to All Hallows Eve on October 31. The schedule of films includes highlights such as the first New York showings of Ben Wheatley’s genre-crossing KILL LIST, Ti West’s supernatural caper THE INNKEEPERS, Scott Leberecht’s fresh take on vampirism MIDNIGHT SON, and the deliciously grotesque multiple-director omnibus THE THEATRE BIZARRE, as well as Mariano Baino’s 1993 nunsploitation film, DARK WATERS. Another highlight is the special live performance of “Nevermore,” Jeffrey Combs’s one-man portrayal of the Father of Gothic Horror, Edgar Allan Poe, directed by Stuart Gordon and written by Dennis Paoli.. The presentation of “Nevermore” will help kick off a Halloween dedicated to Poe, including screenings of Stuart Gordon’s THE BLACK CAT and the Roger Corman/Vincent Price gem HOUSE OF USHER. Also look for a rare screening of the 1969 cult film EYE OF THE CAT, starring Michael Sarrazin and Eleanor Powell, as well as such gore and horror classics as RE-ANIMATOR, THE SEVENTH VICTIM and POLTERGEIST.
