New York filmmaker Abel Ferrara will be feted by the Locarno Film Festival (August 3-13) this year with the Lifetime Achievement Award. The enfant terrible of American cinema will receive the honor in Locarno’s Piazza Grande on August 5. Ferrara will present an exclusive preview of extracts from his latest work, 4:44 LAST DAY ON EARTH, starring frequent collaborator Willem Dafoe and currently in production. Festival-goers will also be able to catch several older films by the director, including the cult titles BAD LIEUTENANT and KING OF NEW YORK.
