Written by: FFT Webmaster | May 5th, 2011

The Iranian film NADER AND SIMIN, A SEPARATION, which won the Golden Bear as the top film at February’s Berlin Film Festival, has been acquired by Sony Pictures Classics for all North American rights. The film, directed by Asghar Farhadi, is set in contemporary Iran and tells the compelling story about the dissolution of a marriage. The film also won Silver Bears for Best Actor and Best Actress in Berlin (for the acting ensemble of Leila Hatami, Sareh Bayat

Shahab Hosseini and Peyman Moaadi), as well as winning the Ecumenical Jury prize. The film is being represented internationally by Paris-based sales agent Memento Films International, who worked with Sony Pictures Classics a few years ago with the Oscar-nominated and Cannes Palme D’Or winner THE CLASS.
