Brooklyn Film Festival Opens On Friday
Written by: FFT Webmaster | June 1st, 2011
Brooklyn is cementing its reputation as New York’s “coolest borough” with the newest edition of the Brooklyn Film Festival (BFF), which will present over 100 film premieres that were selected from over 2,400 submissions coming from 111 countries. This year, BFF will feature a record number of 36 New York City-based film directors with over a dozen projects shot in Brooklyn. For the Festival opener on June 3, BFF and Rooftop Films will present the U.S. Premiere of BATTLE FOR BROOKLYN, a lively look at the controversial Atlantic Yards project which has ignited fears of the cool borough becoming a faceless shopping mall. The film had its world premiere last month at the Toronto HotDocs Festival. Films will screen at indieScreen, a just-opened venue in Williamsburg, and the Brooklyn Heights Cinemas.
