Cinema Eye Honors For Top Documentary Films

During this month when documentary films are on the ascendant (with the recently concluded DocNYC in the Big Apple and IDFA beginning in Amsterdam tomorrow), the Cinema Eye Honors for the top documentary films of the year were also announced. Winners of the 5th Annual Cinema Eye Honors will be announced on January 11, 2012 as Cinema Eye returns for a second year to New York City’s Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria, Queens. Thirty three documentary features from 12 countries have been nominated in seven categories (including Best Director, Best Cinematographer, Best Debut, Best Editing, Best Short and several others). The main competition is for the Outstanding Achievement in Nonfiction Feature Filmmaking prize, with the five nominees THE ARBOR (Clio Barnard), THE INTERRUPTERS (Steve James), NOSTALGIA FOR THE LIGHT (Patricio Guzman), POSITION AMONG THE STARS (Leonard Retel Helmrich), PROJECT NIM (James Marsh) and SENNA (Asif Kapadia).
