Darren Aronofsky Planning Next Pic

Speaking of BLACK SWAN, director Darren Aronofsky is setting up his newest project. Arnofosky has co-written with John Logan an edgy re-telling of the biblical Noah’s Ark story, tentatively titled simply NOAH. The film is planned as a big budget fantasy epic which will use state-of-the-art digital effects to tell the dramatic story. New Regency is set to produce but is looking for a co-financing partner (most probably a major studio like Paramount or Fox) since the current script would cost more than $150 million to produce. Aronofsky recently dropped out as the helmer of THE WOLVERINE. He is suddenly quite hot in Hollywood, with his low budget ($12 million) BLACK SWAN grossing more than $350 million worldwide. Those are the kind of numbers that get financiers interested, but this would certainly be the director’s most expensive film to date.
