Eighteen Films Qualify For Best Animation Oscar

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the 18 animated features that are in contention for this year’s Best Animated Feature Oscar. The field is dominated by American films by such companies as Pixar, Dreamworks and Disney for there are foreign language entries as well, including ALOIS NEBEL from the Czech Republic and WRINKLES, a Spanish language film about old age. The qualifying films (in alphabetical order) include: Steven Spielberg’s THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN, ALOIS NEBEL, ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS: CHIPWRECKED, ARTHUR CHRISTMAS, CARS 2, A CAT IN PARIS, CHICO AND RITA, GNOMEO AND JULIET, HAPPY FEET 2, HOODWINKED TOO, KUNG FU PANDA 2, MARS NEEDS MOMS, PUSS IN BOOTS, RANGO, RIO, THE SMURFS, WINNIE THE POOH and WRINKLES.
