Fox World Cinema Label Announced

Written by: FFT Webmaster | May 9th, 2011

Hollywood major 20th Century Fox has formed a specialized unit within its Home Entertainment division to focus on world cinema titles. Fox World Cinema will put prestige films from around the world out on DVD, VOD and Digital Download for a worldwide audience. The initial slate will include THE YELLOW SEA, the Korean film that will screen at the Cannes Film Festival this month in the Un Certain Regard program; THE BUTCHER, THE CHEF AND THE SWORDSMAN, a Chinese martial-arts epic that premiered at the 2010 Toronto Film Festival; the Indian action thriller DUM MAARO DUM; and VALLANZASCA: ANGEL OF EVIL, a crimc drama biopic about one of Italy’s most notorious gangsters that premiered at last year’s Venice Film Festival. The venture offers the possibility for international films that get a strong response on the international film festival circuit to reach a wide international audience, but the films would not be picked up for traditional theatrical release.
