IFC Films Picks Up Topical Political Drama

Written by: FFT Webmaster | August 10th, 2012

As we head into the final months of the Presidential campaign, the timing was indeed perfect for IFC Films, which has acquired U.S. rights to the political drama KNIFE FIGHT, starring Rob Lowe as an insider strategist. Bill Guttentag, a documentarian best known for the film SOUNDTRACK TO A REVOLUTION, wrote and directed the screenplay (a collaboration with political consultant Chris Lehane, who served as White House advisor to President Bill Clinton and First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton and served as Vice President Al Gore’s press secretary). In the film which premiered last January at the Sundance Film Festival, Lowe plays a political strategist, working with a Kentucky governor (Eric McCormack), a blackmailed California senator (David Harbour) and an idealistic doctor turned gubernatorial candidate (Carrie-Anne Moss), who starts to question his methods.
