Italian Cinema Festival In San Francisco
Written by: FFT Webmaster | November 4th, 2011
The city by the bay has one of the largest Italian American populations in the United States. For this and for other reasons (the excitement of contemporary Italian cinema), there is great anticipation when the San Francisco Film Society and New Italian Cinema Events present New Italian Cinema, November 13 – 20 at the Embarcadero Center Cinema. The eight-day festival is dedicated to bringing Italy’s newest directors and films to Bay Area audiences and celebrating the country’s rich cinematic tradition. This will be the 15th year that the event has been presented in San Francisco. Opening the festivities will be A QUIET LIFE, a powerful drama of buried secrets by Claudio Cupellini. Closing the event is the latest film from Italian auteur Nani Moretti. HABEMUS PAPAM looks behind the scarlet curtains of the Vatican to illuminate a tale of political corruption and religious hypocrisy. In addition, the Festival is presenting a three film tribute to Daniele Luchetti. For complete program information, visit: www.sffs.org/Screenings-and-Events
