Locarno Film Festival’s Mexican Film Salute
Written by: FFT Webmaster | August 3rd, 2012
The Locarno Film Festival, which runs from August 1 to 14 in the picturesque resort town in southern Switzerland, is presenting a salute to contemporary Mexican film. Titled Carte Blanche, the Festival offers a showcase for a number of films in post-production, from a different country in Asia, Africa, Latin America or South-East Europe. This year, Carte Blanche is dedicated to Mexico. With the cooperation of IMCINE, the Mexican Film Institute, seven films in post-production have been chosen. In the pitching session, on August 4, participating producers will present clips and pitch their projects to industry professionals. The presentation will be moderated by Mexican journalist and former director of the Cineteca Nacional Leonardo Garcia Tsao. While networking with potential financiers and distributors, the film projects are also in the running for a prize worth 10,000 Swiss Francs, which will be used towards completion funds.
