Long Island Film Expo Declares Year Of The Documentary

Written by: FFT Webmaster | June 3rd, 2011

The Long Island International Film Expo (LIIFE) will hold its 14th annual installment at the historic Bellmore Movies from July 7-14. Declaring the year of the documentary,  the Festival will showcase over 115 films from around the world. While critically acclaimed short and feature-length, student and animated films will be shown, the abundance of documentaries and foreign films will take the lead this year. The event will open with the local premiere of the Irish/Bosnian film AS IF I AM NOT THERE on Friday, July 8. The film deftly combines fiction and documentary forms, offering a humanist portrayal of the Bosnian/Serbian War of the 1990s (made relevant again by the recent capture of the notorious Serbian general Ladic). The film, which opened at the Toronto Film Festival last September, has been a critical hit and won several awards at other festivals worldwide.
