Magnolia Promotes Two Execs

Written by: FFT Webmaster | September 8th, 2011

New York-based specialty distribution company Magnolia Pictures has promoted Dori Begley to senior vice president of acquisitions and Matt Cowal to senior vice president of marketing and publicity. The moves come in the wake of the departure of senior vp Tom Quinn, who left this week to head up a new label at the Weinstein Co. that is focused on distributing content across new platforms. Begley, who has worked in acquisitions at Magnolia for more than four years, will oversee the acquisition of new product for Magnolia, Magnet Releasing, Magnolia Home Entertainment and Magnolia International across all of their distribution platforms. Cowal, who has been with the company since 2007, oversees all marketing and publicity efforts for Magnolia and Magnet.  The company,  which is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year, also is establishing a Los Angeles presence for its acquisitions team as director of acquisitions Peter Van Steemberg relocates to L.A. from New York.
