MGM Teams With Sony On Cult Remake

MGM will become a financial partner on the upcoming Sony Pictures’ thriller THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO, the first of a three-picture adaptation of the best-selling book series by the late Swedish writer Stieg Larrsson. Under the pact, Sony will handle marketing and distribution, while MGM will oversee select international television licensing for the film. The first film in the trilogy will be released on December 21, with Oscar buzz in the making. Directed by David Fincher (THE SOCIAL NETWORK) and starring Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara, the screenplay is by Oscar-winning scenarist Steven Zaillian.
