From Britain With Love, a showcase of five recent independent films produced in the United Kingdom, will premiere at the Film Society of Lincoln Center on June 11 as part of the opening celebration for its state-of-the art Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center.
Curated by the Film Society in partnership with Emerging Pictures, the largest all-digital specialty film theater network in the United States, the showcase will present each of the films once at the Film Society of Lincoln Center and once at the downtown IFC Center. Simultaneous screenings will be held throughout the country through the Emerging Pictures digital cinema network. Participating films include: A BOY CALLED DAD (director Brian Percival), a coming of age film of a pre-teen father; AFRICA UNITED (Debs Gardner-Paterson), the extraordinary story of three Rwandan children who walk 3000 miles to the World Cup in South Africa; IN OUR NAME (Brian Welsh), the story of a British soldier’s return home after serving in Iraq; NEDs (Peter Mullan), a powerful gang drama set in the Irish slums that premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival; and THIRD STAR (Hattie Dalton), the emotional drama of a young man diagnosed with a terminal illness who his lifelong friends for a stunning coastal adventure.
