New Frontier Explores Media Explosion

Written by: FFT Webmaster | January 20th, 2012

An experiment in Festival presentation, New Frontier is a social and creative space that showcases media installations, multimedia performances, transmedia experiences, panel discussions, and more at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. The 2012 New Frontier artists, filmmakers, journalists, game designers, and media scientists present cinematic works that integrate humanoids with the technosphere. While consumer culture hails technology as the key to transcending our biological limitations, the artists in New Frontier encourage a media environment that nourishes the fragile cornerstones of our humanity—our vulnerability, our social nature, and our creativity. New for 2012, New Frontier has moved its Park City location to The YARD (next to The YARD Park & Ride on the corner of Kearns Blvd. and Homestake). The space is free and open to all Festival Credential Holders and the general public as space permits. There will also be a parallel set of exhibitions, panels and events at the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art in Salt Lake City.
