Norman Jewison Retrospective In New York

For the next six days, the Film Society of Lincoln Center, one of New York’s true film treasures, is presenting a 15-film retrospective of the Oscar-nominated writer/director/producer Norman Jewison. The series will include some of the most important films from the director’s canon, including THE CINCINNATI KID (1965), THE RUSSIANS ARE COMING, THE RUSSIANS ARE COMING (1966), IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT (1967), THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR (1968), FIDDLER ON THE ROOF (1971), ROLLERBALL (1975), A SOLDIER’S STORY (1984) and MOONSTRUCK (1987). He was nominated twice for the Best Director Oscar (IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT and FIDDLER ON THE ROOF), losing in 1968 to Mike Nichols for THE GRADUATE, while seeing his own film IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT win Oscars as Best Picture, Best Actor (Rod Steiger) and Best Adapted Screenplay, Sound and Editing honors..
